7 May 2021 General Prawit Wongsuwan instructed all officials to completely refrain from complicity in human trafficking activities and prepare for post-COVID-19 human trafficking situation.
On 7 May 2021, Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan chaired the 2/2021 Meeting of inter-agencies Anti-Human Trafficking Committee. The Meeting appointed chairs and members of four committees established in accordance with the Anti Trafficking in Persons Act to support the anti-human trafficking efforts on both policy and operational levels, including one that manages the anti-trafficking in persons fund and one that monitors and evaluates the fund utilization.
The Meeting also acknowledged the summary report on Thailand’s anti-human trafficking efforts in 2020, done by Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, that has been published in reader-friendly e-book form for easy public access.
Deputy Prime Minister Pawit also expressed his appreciation for all agencies that have been working hard during the COVID-19 pandemic and encouraged the continuous dedication in order to eradicate human trafficking, as well as urged the agencies to prepare the plan for post-COVID-19 human trafficking situation. Deputy Prime Minister Pawit also reiterated that the officials must refrain from involving in human trafficking activities, including demanding or receiving benefits from those activities at all cost.
