On the 4th of March, Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan chaired Thailand inter-agencies Anti-Human Trafficking Committee meeting to review the feedbacks and suggestions from a multiagency meeting attended by anti-human trafficking NGOs, multinational organisations, and the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security. All parties support the Royal Thai Government’s Country Report on Anti-Human Trafficking Efforts of 2019. The meeting also concluded that the government will provide the U.S. State Department with the progress report of anti-human trafficking effort in March 2020. Deputy Prime Minister General Wongsuwan approved the draft of the anti-human trafficking progress report and will present it to Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha before submitting it to the U.S. State Department on the 2nd of April.
Deputy Prime Minister General Wongsuwan firmly instructed law enforcement agencies to strengthen their measures and efforts against all human trafficking offenders with no exception to government officials who commit human trafficking crimes in order to completely eradicate human trafficking from Thailand. Moreover, Deputy Prime Minister General Wongsuwan also instructed Thai Police to speed up the investigation and ordered MSDHS to spread awareness and invited Thai citizens to keep an eye out for any suspected activities and support the government in its efforts to eradicate human trafficking from Thailand.
