Manus Auamtub and Somchai Saengudom, workers at the “Victoria” massage parlor, were found guilty of sex trafficking of minors between the age of 15 and 18 years old. Nine sex trafficking victims ranged from the age of 15 to 18 years old both Thai and Burmese nationals were forced to provide sex services at the massage parlor under the false pretense of masseuses. The civil court found both defendants guilty of charges and gave out 46 years of prison sentences. However, the civil court reduced the prison sentence to 22 years and 12 months as both defendants pled guilty to their charges.
Nevertheless, the Court of Appeals court increased the prison sentences to 122 years and 6 months due to the horrific, immoral, and brutally efficient sex trafficking organization. Their criminal activities directly violated the anti-human trafficking act and the prevention and suppression of prostitution act. The court also ordered both defendants to pay 80,000 Thai baht ($2,700) to 2 victims of Burmese nationals with an interest of 7.5% per month in compensation.
