SIEM REAP, 19 September 2019 – The Labor Minister, MR Chatumongol Sonakul, together with the Assistant to the Labor Minister, Duangrit Benjathukul Chairungrueng, the Ambassador of Thailand to Cambodia, Panyarak Poolthup, the Permanent Secretary for Labor, Sutthi Sukosol, the Deputy Secretary-General of the Social Security Office (SSO), Amphan Tuvawit and relevant officials attended the 3rd Ministerial Conference on Labor Cooperation among CLMTV countries in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen presided over the opening ceremony of this event. The CLMTV countries include Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.
The conference approved, in principle, the plan for migration and social security rights for migrant workers in the CLMTV region and a joint statement to strengthen labor cooperation further in these five countries. In addition, the meeting agreed to set up a working body to draft a ministerial declaration, which will be proposed for approval at the 4th Ministerial Conference on Labor Cooperation among CLMTV countries in Laos.
