July 9, 2019, 12.30 pm at the Command Building Government House, following the weekly cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha stated about the United States Department of State’s 2019 Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Report which ranks Thailand at Tier 2 for the second consecutive year.
According to the Prime Minister, Thailand remaining in Tier 2 reflects the US’ due recognition of the Royal Thai Government’s strong commitment to and continued progress in preventing and suppressing all forms of human trafficking during the past year, be it, law enforcement and prosecution of wrongdoers, victim protection and care, and prevention of human trafficking.
Nevertheless, the Prime Minister wants Thailand to be elevated to a higher rank and enjoined concerned agencies to continue with related endeavors, e.g., improving relevant legal frameworks, tightening disciplinary action and prosecution against wrongdoers who are also government
