Royal Thai Embassy warmly congratulates Ms. Wirawan “Boom” Mosby, Founder and Director of the HUG Project, for receiving Vital Voices Global Leadership Award for her inspirational work in advancing a new model of care for human trafficking survivors in Thailand.
Ms. Mosby was presented with this prestigious award at a ceremony held at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. on April 4, 2018. She was one of the five women from around the world being honored this year for their transformative leadership in their respective communities and beyond.
Ms. Mosby has been working closely with the Royal Thai Government to raise awareness about human trafficking, and promote victim-centered approach to assistance and rehabilitation. Through collaboration with the Thai police, she established the Advocacy Center for Children Thailand (ACT House) in Chiang Mai – the first child advocacy center in Southeast Asia. Since then, the center has made profound impacts on the ground and inspired the establishment of similar centers in regions across Thailand.
She is also working closely with Thailand Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (TICAC) to develop standard operating procedures for investigating and prosecuting cybercrimes against children.
