BANGKOK, 21 June 2016 (NNT) – The Minister of Social Development and Human Security has instructed all relevant agencies to work together to prevent and clamp down on human trafficking while also establishing collaboration with neighboring countries on the issue.

During the latest meeting with the subcommittee on women’s affairs, Social Development and Human Security Minister Pol Gen Adul Saengsingkaew was informed that significant progress has been made under the action plan to prevent and eliminate the trafficking of women and children. The minister, on this occasion, called on all related units to pool their efforts to enforce the law against human traffickers, protect and rescue victims and expand their work to uproot human trafficking networks.

In the meantime, Pol Gen Adul revealed that Thailand has been coordinating anti-human trafficking operations with its neighboring countries. Thai officials are working with their Lao counterparts to ensure accuracy of information on Lao passports and prevent illegal immigration. As for the collaboration with Cambodia, emphasis is placed on preventive measures against human trafficking and the return of victims to society.
