English subtitle of PM weekly televised address on 17 April 2015
Start at 0.30 minute
The annual Thai New Year, known as the Songkran Festival, has just ended. I believe many of you went back to your hometowns and gathered with your family and friends. During the past week, 68 fishermen have been rescued. They returned home on April 8th, just in time for Thai Family’s Day. Every returnee will be assisted and compensated. The state will provide health checkups and other necessities as well as get them home to their families safely. The Social Development and Human Security Ministry will integrate cooperation with other responsible units to assist and rescue those who have fallen victim to human trafficking, which is a crime against humanity. There are still a lot of people who have been victims of such crimes. Authorities need to prevent these people from being abused by human trafficking rings.
